If you want to go somewhere different that no one you know has been to then go here

http://www.lonelyplanet.com/india/andaman-and-nicobar-islands

Beautiful and unspoilt although the nicobar part is still off limits .

Re: Bali
Been to Bali about 10 times, although not in a while

Would recommend the Gili Islands, or going north of the islands to explore (ubud, seminyak)

would agree with joe that if you're after hotel, beach, relaxation etc it's a long way to go (and alot more money) for just a couple of weeks.

lots of much better and cheaper options within 4 hours flight time.

Nusa Dua is a beautiful area, but there's lots of coral in the sea around there = painful to walk on.

Egypt is cheap for a good reason.

Re: Bali
Stayed in a friends Villa near Echo beach, which is a massive surfing place, the sea was too rough to relax there.

Then stayed in a Hotel in Semiyak, Potato Head and Ku De Ta are good days, they are 'Beach Clubs' so not for Kids.

Re: Bali
Substitute temples for churches and the volcano for a mountain and you could have been pretty much anywhere hot .

Whenever I'm asked a holiday question I usually ask "what do you want for breakfast?"

White sand , blue sea , cheap booze and grilled fish can be found pretty much anywhere past the med.

This year I have booked (so far) Egypt (cheap) ticks all boxes ,and sunny beach Bulgaria , this is only because a friend lives there and it's her 60th

Cebu in feb could be a goer.

Re: Bali
Went there for my honeymoon last year, absolutely amazing place.

Stayed in Nusa Dua, which is the quieter side of the island but only a half hour cab drive away from Kuta or Semyinak.

Personally i'd stay outside the above towns as they are a bit touristy and shit full of drunken aussies.

Anyone who thinks greek islands are better than bali are fucking head cases.

Re: Bali
Agree with the sentiments blelow, ie why fly all that way? The Greek island are better thn Bali.

Re: Bali
Yeah go.
Flight's nice and easy.
The place is like nothing else on Earth. No other place has sand and sea.
It's much cheaper than the Isle of Wight.
Everyone speaks English
They do fish fingers and burgers.
It's not overly hot at all.

Sitting by a pool next to a villa ?

Save a grand and go to Greece

Re: Bali
The Kuta-Seminyak area is actually pretty kid friendly. There are sorta kids waterparks and a zoo I think. You can get a nice villa with a pool or shared pool in Seminyak or Legian and you can have a nice relaxing time for a few days.

The 'real Bali' though is outside the Kuta tourist sprawl. Just depends if you could be bothered, or are just happy sitting by a pool next to a lovely villa.
